During the U21 training camp, dentist Dr. Steffen G. Tschackert (Frankfurt am Main) – known among other things from Germany`s Next Top Model by Heidi Klum 2008 and Austria`s Next Top Model 2009 – offered the young players a special kind of dental prophylaxis. To prevent tooth disease during the important Euro Cup games, the teeth of the U21 players were thoroughly examined for any signs of pathology, with the ESTETICA E80 unit. Such a precautionary examination before an international tournament is a first for the DFB (German Football Federation) and serves to prevent and reduce sports injuries, according to Dr. Tschackert. According to the famous dentist, many muscular diseases can be traced back to dental origins. The reason for this unprecedented activity: Two players suffered from dental problems during a recent important tournament.
This precautionary examination proved fortuitous and timely. Some players in the U21 will have to be treated before the start of the Euro Cup in Sweden on June 15th, 2009.
The ESTETICA E80 unit also featured prominently in another high-level sporting event: During the 2008 summer Olympic Games XXIX in Peking, KaVo offered superior dental care to the athletes with ESTETICA E80 units and other KaVo equipment.

An advanced hygiene design also provides safety, prevents treatment errors and protects the practice team and the patient.
The hygienic design of the ESTETICA E80 has many benefits and includes an automatic rinsing program which makes the daily rinsing of all water lines easy. The variable rinse time is easily activated by the push of a button.
The continuous and intensive sterilisation with KaVo Oxygenal 6 prevents the spread of micro-organisms during normal use and ensures that cooling and spray liquids remain of high quality even after extended standing periods. A ring water line in the dentist element ensures that the system is continuously rinsed. The valve for preventing back suction on KaVo instruments and motors protects patients and prevents contaminated spray water from being sucked back into the treatment unit.
The automated hydroclean function cleans the entire suction and drain system including the suction hoses with water and disinfects them with the fully-automated dosage of Dekaseptol gel.
Dekaseptol and Oxygenal 6 cleaning and disinfecting agents are integrated into the body of the unit and are dispensed as required by the Dekamat or Oxymat devices making manual cleaning and contact with disinfectants is completely unnecessary, saving the practice valuable time.
The smooth surface design of the unit also has very few areas where dirt can collect. Frequently touched parts such as handles, instrument holder and mouth rinsing basin can be removed, disinfected and in some cases sterilised to prevent cross-contamination.

The intelligent, flexible ESTETICA E80 treatment system has been designed with ergonomics in mind, and therefore it guarantees smooth movement sequences that assist you to maintain a healthy posture without strain. The integrated endodrive and surgical drive are completely new features. It is now not only unnecessary to purchase additional expensive instruments but the unit optimises the workflow and provides improved ergonomics.
The KaVo SL 550 surgical light motor can be added to the classical six instruments on the ESTETICA E80 instrument holder. This provides the user with the unrestricted functions of a modern surgical unit with the KaVo INTRA LUX CL 10, INTRA LUX CL3-09 and INTRA LUX CL3-04 surgical light instruments, a feature unique in the market. The ESTETICA E80 automatically recognizes which of the KaVo surgical light instruments you are using, and sets the correct reduction ratio. Program steps for up to six implants can be set at the program level. The display on the dentist element shows all important settings. The maximum torque of each step is measured and provides you with important information for evaluating the primary stability of the implants. The INTRA LUX SL 550 surgical motor provides a maximum torque of 5.5 Ncm over a speed range of 300-12 000 rpm. In the upper speed range the torque is reduced to protect the bone and prevent the motor from overheating. The torque can also be limited for additional safety. The attachment of the surgical motor to the dentist element by a quick-release coupling makes it easy to remove the supply hose and motor for sterilisation after treatment.
The ESTETICA E80 comes with the new, collectorless sterilisable KL 702 motor. In addition to its normal speed range (2,000 – 40,000 rpm), it has a special endodontics function with adjustable torque limitation. Depending on the transmission ratio of your instrument, you can freely program torques within 0.15 and 8 Ncm. The speed range of 100 – 6,000 rpm is also available. The parameters for six different endodontic steps can also be stored to optimise the workflow.
This treatment unit is unbeatable with these integrated specialist components. The perfectly adjusted workflow integrates all instruments allowing the user to concentrate on the treatment and measurably reduces the time required for treatment. Innovative solutions mean improved safety, and reductions in lost time and money, making the unit more economical to use.

The intelligent treatment system ESTETICA E80 impresses even the most experienced user. The flexible adaptation of the new KaVo unit to the individual requirements of the dentist leads to a smooth sequence of bodily movements and to a healthy stress-free posture.
The innovative suspended chair concept offers an incomparable increase in freedom of body and leg movement during treatment. Comfortable, relaxed positioning of the patient is achieved through the individual adaptability of the seating, backrest and headrest. The horizontal adjustability of the unit ensures that the oral cavity of the patient is always in the same position even when the chair is re-positioned. The laser is distinguished by an especially user-friendly software, and is available in two versions.

Biberach/Riss, 21/05/2007 - At IDS 2007, KaVo presents to the market its new GENTLEray 980, a diode laser for soft tissue surgery, decontamination procedures in periodontics and endodontics, as well as for laser-assisted bleaching. The laser is distinguished by an especially user-friendly software, and is available in two versions.
The diode laser GENTLEray 980 works with laser light in a wavelength of 980nm which shows minimum absorption in water and high absorption in haemoglobin and melanin. Classical operating areas for the new KaVo laser are soft tissue surgery with good coagulation effect, disinfection of tissue by the treatment of bacterial infection, laser-supported sulcus sterilisation or endodontics, as well as laser-assisted bleaching. The KaVo GENTLEray 980 Laser is available in two versions – Classic und Premium.
The GENTLEray 980 Classic provides a performance of 6 Watt cw, is delivered with a hand-piece containing 300µm fibres as standard, and can be optionally upgraded to the Premium variation. The GENTLEray 980 Premium is designed for better patient comfort and a faster healing process with a water cooling system (peristaltic pump). This reduces thermal damage, thereby enabling less painful treatment with a reduction of post-operative discomfort.
With the aid of the water supply, blood particles remaining after the SRP are rinsed from the pocket, so that as well as the laser-assisted sulcus sterilisation, disepithialization in the pockets can take place more efficiently. Furthermore, the GENTLEray 980 Premium diode laser provides a higher performance (7 Watt cw, 12 Watt peak), and the possibility of micro-pulsation at a frequency of up to 20.000 Hz. The increased treatment efficiency of the Premium variation allows for faster procedures and shortened exposure times to the laser beams. Apart from the water cooling, the pulsating application of the laser beam can further reduce undesirable thermal side effects, taking into consideration the tissue-specific relaxation time.
Operation of the small, lightweight KaVo GENTLEray 980 diode laser, which can be employed for 30 preset indication-specific conditions, takes place simply and hygienically via the touch-screen display. Also new is a software-aided help function with application recommendations, which is of great assistance to the dentist.
In comparison to conventional therapy, treatment with the GENTLEray 980 ensures only light bleeding, reduced swellings and in the course of time, just minor post-operative discomfort as well as the reduced need for pain relievers. This results in comfortable, painless therapy for the patient and a stress-free treatment situation for the operator and the practice team.

At IDS 2007 KaVo presented the world premiere of the new caries contact-handpiece 2063 for the KEY Laser 3. It is the first contact-handpiece in the world for hard tissue lasers which allows direct contact to tooth surfaces during treatment.

With the new KaVo caries contact-handpiece 2063 for the Er:YAG Laser KEY 3, it is now possible for the first time to tangibly remove carious substance by direct contact with the tooth surface, without damaging the laser head. The well-known Feedback System, as used by the KEY Laser 3 in periodontics, can also be utilized to assist in the removal of caries. The unique Feedback System, based on laser fluorescence, is a special combination of diagnostic and therapy systems. It is able to detect not only damaged tooth substance, but also concretions.
A satisfactory cooling of the preparation site at all angles is achieved by the patented water supply system. The pain sensitivity for the patient can thereby be additionally reduced. An upgrade is available so that all KEY Laser 3 units currently on the market can be modified for the usage of the new caries contact-handpiece.
Together with three further handpieces, the KaVo KEY Laser 3 makes possible a protective, effective and painless application in periodontics, restorative dentistry, endodontics, peri-implantitis therapy, and surgery. With its numerous indications, including those approved by the FDA, this laser offers the broadest operational spectrum of all laser systems to be found on the market.
All functions of the laser can be controlled by the multi-function foot controller or by menu control at the touch screen. Thanks to the integrated adjustable spray supply, the flexibility of the light conducting fibres, the roller bearings and a simple connection to an available electrical socket, the laser is mobile and immediately ready for operation.
